Alex Israel's sunrise/sunset-hued suitcases for Rimowa won't be available until later this spring, but unofficial preorders began in earnest on Friday night at dinner in Alex's studio to celebrate the LA-based artist's collaboration with the German luggage company. Rimowa's young, sure-footed CEO Alexandre Arnault and GARAGE editor-in-chief Mark Guiducci co-hosted guests that spanned classic Hollywood and new LA art world: Pharrell Williams and his wife Helen Lasichanh, Alicia Silverstone, China Chow and Billy Idol, MOCA director Klaus Biesenbach, Wendi Murdoch, Uber founder Travis Kalanick, musician King Princess, former Artforum editor Jack Bankowsky, Maria Sharapova, Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Jamie Mizrahi, models Georgia Fowler and Camille Rowe, Lisa Eisner, Jeffrey Deitch, collectors Bill and Maria Bell, W's Stefano Tonchi, Michael Ovitz and Tamara Mellon. Family-style dinner by LA-institution Gjusta was accompanied by negronis from Franco's, the iconic bar of Le Sirenuse in Positano (and now Miami). After dinner, Mia Moretti DJ'd until 1am—practically dawn in Los Angeles.
