New York City is full of institutions—restaurants, stores, and museums—that feel like they have always existed. These are the real pillars of the city, seemingly operating since the beginning of time—places that you could not imagine ever disappearing: think The Odeon, MoMA, Grand Central Oyster Bar, C.O. Bigelow, and The Strand.

One that flies slightly below the radar is Dave's Workwear. Since 1963, Dave's on 6th Avenue has kept New Yorkers draped in affordable staples like Levi's, Carhartt, Dickie's, and Ben Davis. A few years ago I discovered that Dave's makes a great classic logo t-shirt in every color you can imagine. Safety orange? Hell yea. Athletic grey? Of course. Tasteful navy? In-stock. The best part? It will only cost you $7.99! At that price, you are bound to see some bozos wearing the t-shirt, but don't let that discourage you. My advice: after you finish your lunch at Bar Pitti, stroll a few blocks to Dave's. Buy a few of the classic logo t-shirts, put them on ice and wait for the current workwear trend to pass. Or just buy one for someone who lives in Los Angeles, Nashville, or Portland, where it will make them look like a cool, cultured New Yorker!

This is it, baby!!!!
