A T-Shirt For Getting Back (Back!) In the New York Groove!
If you love TV and New York, this one is for you!
A big mood from Ben Park.
Goddamnit it feels good to be back in the BIG APPLE! The City So Nice, They Named It Twice! The City of Dreams! To paraphrase Frank Sinatra or whatever, NEW YORK CITY BABY!
After two weeks of holiday break, I arrived back in New York City on a dark and cold Sunday night. As I made my way downtown (*Vanessa Carlton voice*), I started to get excited. I had been in Atlanta and Los Angeles, two cities I love, but they aren’t home. They lack that electric energy that I crave. When I walked into my apartment, I stared lovingly—tenderly!—at the big pile of mail sitting in front of me.
Of course, it contained a handful of t-shirts. I rifled through the stack, and I got excited (can you feel the vitality???) about a particular yellow longsleeve that had been promised to me by my dear friend Charles. To be honest, yellow isn’t my color, but for this, I will make an exception. Because this beauty pays homage to NY1, the 24/7 news station that covers the five boroughs. Along the sleeve, just like a wall in the newsroom, it has six clocks, one labeled GMT, and the other five labeled Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx. Genius! I now own a clever t-shirt that lets me share my love for Manhattan and the four other boroughs that I never go to!
It calls to mind the beautiful words of our true cosmopolitan bard, Nora Ephron: "I look out the window and I see the lights and the skyline and the people on the street rushing around looking for action, love, and the world's greatest chocolate chip cookie, and my heart does a little dance."
