Logomania will always linger as a mainstay trend amongst fashion’s youngest and coolest enthusiasts, and Prada knows it. After all, in a world of all-over LVs, double Cs, Gs and Fs, Prada has relied on a single “red line” to pack the same punch for decades. In its ’90s heyday, there were few emblems as reflective of the zeitgeist. The fire-engine red rubber, tag stamped with that famous five letter name, communicated its wearer’s effortless coolness, impeccable taste, and sense to buy functional luxury that was as cool on the ski-slopes as it was on the streets.
Prada Linea Rossa, reincarnated in the brand’s most recent ready-to-wear collection, still represents the purest manifestation of sportswear, but with a modern twist. Created using high-tech fabrics and processes, these fluorescent bucket hats, nylon oversized vests, and spandex trousers exist at the intersection of high fashion and high performance, demanding attention without being obnoxious.
Linea Rossa will be the line hypebeasts save for, streetstyle stars rely on, working women sprinkle into their wardrobes, boyfriends steal from their partners, and what we’ll all covet forever. We asked stylist Dara Allen and photographer Cruz Valdez to give us a look at the new pieces below.
